How to make a Blood Orange Margarita

Ingredients:

  • tequila
  • fresh squeezed blood orange juice
  • fresh squeezed lime juice
  • agave nectar
  • ice
  • lime juice and salt for the rim
  • fresh slices of blood orange and lime for the rim

Directions:

Begin by rimming your glass. Run a wedge of lime around the edge of your margarita glass, then dip the glass into margarita salt.

*regular salt works fine, if you don’t have any margarita salt on hand. We prefer to use a coarse salt, rather than table salt, if possible. This blood orange margarita is really pretty with pink salt on the rim!

Put one cup of ice in a cocktail shaker. Add the tequila, blood orange juice, lime juice, and agave.

*depending on the sweetness of your blood orange, and your taste in cocktails, you may want to use less agave in your margarita. I typically prefer 2 or 3 teaspoons of agave in my blood orange margarita.

Shake well to combine the margarita and chill the cocktail.

Add ice to your salt rimmed margarita glass, then strain and pour the blood orange margarita into the glass.

If you’d like to garnish your cocktail, add a slice of blood orange and/or a slice of lime to the edge of your glass.
